This wat is larger than most and features one of Chiang Mai’s tallest landmarks. This is the largest chedi I have seen here. It has been partially destroyed over hundreds of years due to earthquakes. There is one area they have started to restore. In some of the photos you see a pulley system that goes up to near the top of the chedi. Many wats have this available – for a small donation, it is good luck to put water into a small vessel that is shuttled up to the top on the pulley and then poured on to the chedi.
The red section of carpet up front is reserved for monks.
I’m not sure what kind of trees these are but they are in full bloom all over town. Beautiful!
